Former Seattle Seahawks DB Richard Sherman Arrested For Suspicion Of A DUI
Richard Sherman was arrested in his home state of Washington on Saturday morning on the suspicion of a DUI.
The Seattle Times reported that Sherman was taken to King County Jail at 4:51 a.m. Pacific Time. However, the Washington State Patrol stated that because the matter is still under investigation, they could not provide any further details.
Unfortunately for Sherman, this is not the first time that he has been arrested since his retirement from the NFL in 2021. In the same year that he stopped playing professional football, he crashed his SUV in a construction zone and then rushed to his in-laws house. Once he arrived (also while intoxicated), he tried to break into their home, frightening the occupants inside.
In 2022, He pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges, was fined $1,500, and had to attend a DUI victim’s panel as part of his punishment for this incident. The court also said Sherman would be under monitored supervision for two years as a result.
At the time, he said that he experienced some positive changes as a result of these unfortunate developments.
"[The arrest] led to some really positive changes -- some help, some therapies, some tools that I didn't have before -- to address some things that you kind of let stack up in your mind," Sherman said. "You never have time to address them. It's not the right moment. It's not the right place in your life to deal with these emotions and feelings."
Unfortunately, that change did not last long enough to prevent this latest development from occurring.
Sherman won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014, and was one of the key members of the famous "Legion of Boom." He played three seasons in San Francisco, and closed out his career with Tampa Bay. Additionally, he just wrapped up his second year as an analyst for Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football.
