Former Saints Pass Rusher Junior Galette Doesn't Want You Knowing About His 113 Traffic Camera Citations

We've all been there. The traffic light just ahead turns yellow and you're caught in a no-man's land between slamming the brakes or putting the pedal to the metal. And sometimes you miscalculate.

Then the traffic camera, unfeeling and unforgiving, takes a snapshot of you running a red light.

Former NFL edge rusher Junior Galette can relate. Because over the years, he's apparently collected at least 113 tickets totaling $22,395 in fines from traffic camera violations in New Orleans.

Galette Collected Sacks And Tickets

Galette, 36, spent six years in the NFL and was a pretty fair threat getting to the quarterback. He finished his career with 34.5 sacks and that includes the 2013 season when he had 12 sacks and the 2014 season when he added 10 sacks.

But none of that pass-rusher prowess could compare with Galette's ticket tally.

And we know the tally based on a New Orleans Fox 8 investigation which found that the city is owed a whopping $135,002,518.56 in traffic camera ticket fees, with that spread across 994,323  tickets dating back to late 2010.

The city uses traffic cameras to enforce speed limits and catch drivers running red lights. The license plates of alleged violators are caught on camera, then used to issue traffic tickets and fees.

And Galette – or at the very least his registered vehicle carrying his tag – was a multiple, multiple, MULTIPLE offender.

Galette Threatens Suit

Galette is among the more prominent names FOX 8 published as people who have not paid their fines. He threatened to sue the station, because he claims he's made restitution. He provided no evidence of doing so, per their report.

Assuming Galette made the payments, just the sheer volume of tickets Galette's plates are responsible for still merit attention. The math says he or his vehicle averaged nearly nine tickets per year since 2010.

But, amazingly, that doesn't give Galette the violations lead in the city.

There's apparently a couple who racked up 700 tickets and $113,000 in violation fees since 2010 and those have not been paid.
