Former MLB Player Sean Burroughs Collapses, Dies After Dropping Off Son At Little League
A terrible situation as former MLB infielder Sean Burroughs collapsed and died while dropping his son off at his Little League game this past Thursday. Burroughs was just 43-years-old.
Burroughs was the son of 1974 American League MVP Jeff Burroughs and followed his father's footsteps into the Majors, where he played for four of his seven years with the San Diego Padres and was a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks' 2011 National League West Championship.
Burroughs was also a Little League World Series star - winning back-to-back titles in 1992 and 1993 with Long Beach, California.
In 2000, the infielder won a Gold Medal for Team USA in the Sydney, Australia Summer Olympics.
BURROUGHS WAS SON'S LITTLE LEAGUE ASSISTANT COACH
Sean - who was his son's Little League assistant coach, collapsed near his car as he dropped his 6-year-old son off at the field. Sean was unresponsive while CPR was being administered to him. According to his wife, Sean passed away from cardiac arrest.
His best year in the Majors came in 2003 when he played third baseman for the Padres for 146 games, hitting .286 and seven home runs. The Padres honored him with a moment of silence before last night's game.
OutKick sends our condolences to the Burroughs family during this time.
