Finally! Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever Get First Win Of Season

It finally happened.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever - or is it the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark? (I kid, I kid) - finally got their first win on Friday night after a back and forth battle against the Los Angeles Sparks to ultimately come out on top 78-73.

The victory couldn't have come at a better time for the WNBA's No. 1 draft pick, who although publicly told reporters before the game that she hadn't heard any criticism or felt any additional pressure, surely must feel a sense of relief finally notching that W whether she admits it or not.

You can be sure that the franchise does as well as the WNBA - who are literally banking on Clark to live up to the hype that they, the media, as well as opposing players have put upon her.

CAITLIN CLARK IS STILL FINDING HER RHYTHM ON THE COURT

Make no mistake about it, Caitlin Clark is still finding her way in the WNBA. She hasn't been nearly as dominant as she once was throughout her time in the NCAA where just this past season, she set the all-time Division 1 scoring record for both men's and women's basketball players.

In fact, last night looked like it was going to be another disappointing performance by Clark, who only had 5 points heading into the fourth quarter while also missing all seven of her three-pointers.

But, just like superstars do, Clark came up big when it mattered as she hit two three-pointers with two minutes left in the game to lead the Fever to victory. In the end, she nearly had a triple double - finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists in front of the sold-out Los Angeles crowd, many of whom came to see Clark play.

Just listen to this reaction after she drained one of her late three-pointers!

‘TONIGHT REMINDED ME WHY I LOVE PLAYING BASKETBALL’

Afterwords, Clark spoke with reporters and opened up a bit about how she has been dealing with her new found fame that comes with a lot of good, but also some bad.

"Honestly, I feel like I talked to the media more than I talk to my own family. No, I'm being dead serious, and it's really kind of sad in a way. It's a lot for someone who is 22-years-old, it can be tough at times. Our team is very young. It's difficult [at times], I absolutely love playing basketball and I wouldn't change it for the world," Clark told reporters after the game.

"I think just getting off social media has been the healthiest thing as this is my job, this is what I love to do, I never want to lose the fun of the game. And nights like tonight remind me why I love playing basketball, because you get a win, and you walk off the floor and there are so many kids screaming your name that love just watching you play."

"I think it's the little things that remind me every single day why I do this and why I love it," Clark admitted.

Fortunately for Clark, she now has that first win, which, as any professional athlete of any sport will tell you, matters tremendously. The Indiana Fever are now 1-5, but to be fair, they did have a difficult schedule to start the season.

Meanwhile, for Clark, it's probably for the best that she's off social media and not hearing the drama as well as the manufactured BS, race-baiting that some are blaming her for, even though she didn't do anything. If only they knew that jealousy reeks more than a porta-potty after a Sumo wrestling competition.

I'm sure they hated it when she said hello to celebrities like Ashton Kutcher, who came out to see her play.

Get used to it, because it's not going to stop anytime soon - especially if Clark starts to find her groove on the court and the Fever get on a winning streak.
