Fake Jared McCain Snapchat Account Has Been Scamming Fans For Money

NBA Draft prospect Jared McCain is being impersonated by someone on Snapchat who has been scamming fans for money.

The catfish account reportedly builds trust with fans before offering them "gifted items from SKIMS and other companies at a discounted price," according to TMZ Sports.

Last fall, SKIMS — an underwear and loungewear line founded by Kim Kardashian — entered into a multi-year partnership with the NBA, WNBA and USA Basketball. McCain, a former star guard for the Duke Blue Devils, was part of a March Madness campaign for the brand during this year's NCAA Tournament.

So after the duped fans agree to purchase the discounted SKIMS on Snapchat, the scammer tells them to send money to a CashApp account that doesn't feature McCain's image or name. That discrepancy obviously sparks concern, but the imposter assures them that his account is incognito to "prevent ladies from sending him money to get his attention."

Once the sucker sends cash — sometimes hundreds of dollars, says TMZ — then the catfish account blocks them, takes the money and runs.

Honestly, if you're dumb enough to think Jared McCain is selling you discounted underwear on Snapchat, maybe you deserve to be scammed.

I'm only sort of kidding.

Anyway, McCain's camp is reportedly aware of the scam and has been in contact with Snapchat to get the fake account deleted.

Meanwhile, the real McCain is busy preparing for the 2024 NBA Draft.

In his one season at Duke, the 20-year-old was named to the ACC All-Freshman team. He averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and shot 41.4 percent from three-point range in 36 starts for the Blue Devils.
