ESPN's Stephen A. Smith Reacts To Trump's NY Conviction: 'He Can't Be President, Period'

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith reacted to the news that former president Donald Trump was convicted of felony charges in New York on Thursday.

SAS ripped off a few CNN-quality points on the nation's attitude toward Trump and tried to sell his audience on a better future under Joe Biden.

Trump Found ‘Guilty,’ Stephen A. Reacts

As reported by Fox News, "Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg charged former President Donald Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree."

In his instant reaction, Stephen A. Smith made several brow-raising statements, such as predicting that a "civil war" could break out as ‘right-wingers’ threaten democracy over Trump's conviction.

Smith's feelings about the Trump conviction went all in on full-scale hysteria, with conservatives to blame. In line with his ESPN takes, Stephen A.'s reaction promoted discourse over a level-headed response.

"I'm scared as hell," Stephen A. told his YouTube audience hours after Trump's conviction.

"It all points to civil war in this country," Smith continued.

Conservatives Will Revolt, Stephen A. Claimed

Stephen A. also used the January 6 references extensively in describing the aftermath of Thursday's ruling.

"We're all pawns. We're all subject to the mercy of politicians who find a way to manipulate the system and ultimately manipulate against one another. … That's a concern I had before January 6 when the U.S. Capitol was stormed by a bunch of Trump supporters."

Rather than overthrow the country's democracy, conservatives who objected to Trump's conviction flooded President Trump's campaign page on Thursday, crashing the site on Thursday.

More conservatives threatened to take a stand by making their voices heard in November at the ballot box, which even SAS acknowledged who could work against Dems during the upcoming election.

"This was a rigged, disgraceful trial," Trump said in the NY courtroom on Thursday (relayed by the Associated Press). "The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people. They know what happened, and everyone knows what happened here."

Stephen A., at one point, mentioned that he advised his close family to avoid going out after Trump's verdict on Thursday, fearing violence from Trump supporters. According to Smith, Trump supporters' outcry will threaten American democracy and put people in harm's way.

The ESPN talking head then declared that Joe Biden's economy and Supreme Court decisions makes old Joe a ‘superior’ candidate to the public but not to "those on the right."

Though Stephen A. lauded Biden's ‘strength’ with the economy, Americans remain concerned over historic inflation numbers and Biden's shortcomings in keeping world peace.

SAS continued pushing against conservatives: "They are pointing the finger at Joe Biden's ‘cognitive abilities' … Biden has a record as president that some people on the right would complain about. The people on the left ain't complaining at it.

"They're looking at our economy. They're looking at some of the decisions that he's made with the Courts. They're looking at a bevy of things, and they're saying, ‘We don’t have a problem with Joe Biden,' but the right clearly does."

Finally, Stephen A. voiced the quiet part aloud in his rant against Trump.

"I don't want [Trump] to be president of the United States, period!" Stephen A. Smith declared, calling him too ‘divisive’ and ‘narcissistic’ to run the nation over Joe Biden.
