ESPN's Hubie Brown Catches Light-Hearted Stray Shot From Bucks' Bobby Portis
What an eye-bulging remark! Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis was mic'd up for Sunday's Eastern Conference game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Needing a win to regain their swagger, the Bucks came out in full force, winning 119-98. Portis felt the energy of the big win, throwing light-hearted jabs during the game.
One person who caught a stray for seemingly no reason was ESPN-NBA broadcaster Hubie Brown.
It's one thing to take a shot at a broadcaster who few people enjoy (*cough* Jay Williams *cough* Candace Parker) but taunting the 90-year-old Naismith Hall of Famer and famed NBA coach seemed quite out-of-pocket by Portis.
After draining a 3-point shot, Portis ran by the scorers table and shouted, "Talk about that Hubie!" It was all fun and games … but pick on someone from your generation, BP!
WATCH:
Portis' jab was perhaps more of a reflection of the Bucks' frustration with the media amid a turbulent season in Milwaukee. The Bucks are picking up the pieces after firing head coach Adrian Griffin following a 30-13 start.
Bringing in veteran head coach and champ Doc Rivers was Milwaukee's remedy for a poor defensive effort under Griffin. But the Bucks are far from their winning ways under Doc, going 4-7 under their new coach heading into Sunday's win.
Still missing Khris Middleton with a foot injury, the Bucks hope to squeeze as much shooting from Portis. He finished Sunday's game with 17 points in 19 minutes.
"Bucks startin' to look like the Bucks again," Portis also commented from the bench. Milwaukee sits firmly in third place in the Eastern Conference at 37-21.
Former 76ers Patrick Beverley, now with the Bucks, had his own fighting words for his old team.
Pat Bev unleashed a merciless, blood-thirsty dig at Philly. He contributed a whopping three points in 18 minutes of action on Sunday.
"Hate to do it. But it’s only right. Philly thanks for everything. But……….Belt 2 A$$ [a**]," Beverley posted on X after the game.
