ESPN Promotes NAACP’s Call For Black Athletes To 'Reconsider' Florida Schools Because of DEI

The NAACP believes African-American athletes cannot thrive without the help of DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) programs. DEI states that minorities require a forced institutional boost to thrive in America, robbing minorities of any individual merit by attributing their worth to skin color.

Florida and Governor Ron DeSantis took a strong stance against DEI, legislating measures to eliminate DEI's progressive playbook of giving unwarranted opportunities to people based on their race. 

NAACP Fights To Preserve DEI, An Initiative That Is Inherently Racist

The move by DeSantis was seen as a big win. However, the NAACP disagreed with DeSantis' position and warned black college athletes to ‘reconsider’ attending schools in Florida; a ridiculous call to action.

NAACP president and CEO Derrick Johnson supported DEI's position in Florida colleges. 

Johnson sent a letter to NCAA president Charlie Baker, asking Baker to back DEI against Ron DeSantis' initiatives to diminish its influence on Florida's college athletes. The NAACP and its president called for black athletes to rethink their offers from Florida institutions to send a message to DeSantis, proving merit doesn't matter to DEI.

"This is not about politics. It's about the protection of our community, the progression of our culture, and most of all, it's about your education and your future," Johnson argued. 

Johnson called for DEI to continue being a funded entity for every college and American institution.

ESPN Goes to Bat For DEI

Another champion of DEI is the Worldwide ‘Leader’ in Sports, ESPN, which highlighted a piece on the NAACP's plea to the NCAA.

Posted and highlighted on an NFL-heavy Monday, ESPN promoted Johnson's letter in an article titled, "NAACP asks Black student-athletes to reconsider Florida colleges," positioned atop their home page. 

ESPN failed to realize the demeaning and damaging position touted by the NAACP and fellow woke coalitions championing DEI.

ESPN dismissed its audience yet again, opting to push a political message down their throats. Most sports fans don't care about DEI, so why is ESPN advertising it? The Mothership proudly promoted Derrick Johnson's stance on DEI; the same NAACP prez who stated that African-American lives aren't safe in Florida and issued a travel advisory because of the state's conservative leadership. 

In 2023, Johnson said, "Therefore, we are advising African Americans and others that if you travel to Florida, beware that your life is not valued, that we have a political landscape that could cause harm as we prepare for the 2024 elections to right-size the political landscape in the state of Florida."

Just a week ago, ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith denounced OutKick founder Clay Travis' argument that DEI is unfair to all Americans, especially those qualified for a job DEI won't grant them.

While SAS argued that DEI led to equality for African Americans, Clay argued that DEI subjects people to treatment predicated solely on the color of their skin. Since DEI promotes equity over equality, it's apparent that it serves to make up for past racial transgressions in America rather than support actual equality among all.

Under any other title, a stance that judges Americans based on the color of their skin would be deemed racist. 

Instead of said approach, promote a diversity of thought, as Travis stated in his rebuttal to Stephen A. Smith.
