Elly De La Cruz's Foul Ball Craters Into Reds Pitcher Hunter Greene's SUV
Batting practice for Cincinnati Reds star Elly De La Cruz and pitcher Hunter Greene took an unusual turn on Tuesday. As EDLC and Greene went at it during a Spring Training BP session, Elly fouled a ball straight back into a parking lot where the ball found and bounced off Green's SUV, shattering a window.
Assessing the coincidental foul by Elly, Greene warned the 22-year-old to cough up money for the broken rear window. That is, until the young Reds phenom reminded Greene that he's worth infinitely more money at this point in their respective careers.
"You're paying for it," Greene told ELDC, via CLNS Media's Mike Petraglia. "You make more than me," De La Cruz answered, calling back to Greene's extension with the Reds in 2023, signed for six years and $53 million.

Hunter Greene shared a photo from the scene, taking one more jab at the 22-year-old Reds sensation.
"Better have @safelite on speed dial," Greene warned Elly De La Cruz on Instagram.
ELDC and Greene stand out as bright spots for this ascending Reds team moving forward.
Greene long stood out as the sole gem of the Reds until Elly De La Cruz's elite entrance into MLB last season granted Cincy a new gear at the plate. De La Cruz batted .235 with 13 homers and 44 RBI in his rookie season (98 games). A savant for stealing bases and acrobatic catches in the outfield — not to mention his powerful swinging — De La Cruz gave the team a mid-season spark but did not push them past a late-season slump to finish third in the NL Central (82-80). All eyes stay on this young Cincy team, with most fans expecting a strong result in 2024.
