Eagles Coach Nick Sirianni Taunts Giants Fans: 'We Took Your Best Player'
Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni mellowed out since his job was reportedly on the hot seat after a disappointing 2023-24 season.
After several offseason additions, Sirianni feels the team is on a better path. One of those key acquisitions was former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, who was generally viewed as the rival team's best offensive weapon.
The Eagles coach spoke to the media on Tuesday as part of the team's OTAs and shared his recent taunts with Giants fans following news of Saquon's departure from New York.
Nick Sirianni told the media that when Giants fans come up to him for a heckle, he'll remind Big Blue faithful that the Eagles seemingly gutted New York's offense by signing Saquon.
It's a solid comeback by Sirianni, arguably the top pick for the pettiest NFL coach.
"You know, sometimes you see Giants fans around here," Sirianni said, "being so close, and they give me a good, like, "Hey go Giants."
Saquon, a two-time Pro Bowler and former No. 2 pick for the Giants, often played the alpha on offense as quarterback Daniel Jones struggled.
Without Saquon, the Giants are left with scraps on offense and a couple of budding young receivers.
"And I'd typically let it go. But if I, if the guy gets me good enough I usually say, you know, that's your best player," Sirianni said.
Credit to Sirianni, who hit Giants fans right where it hurts … no matter the lengths of denial they're currently experiencing without Barkley.
Last season, Barkley amassed 962 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns, adding 280 receiving yards. Barkley agreed to a deal with the Eagles worth $37.75 million over three years, including roughly $10 million in added incentives. He joins Sirianni and Eagles OC Kellen Moore's offense while the Giants rebuild with newly signed Devin Singletary in their backfield.
