Duke's Kyle Filipowski Miraculously Hits The Court After 'Intentional' Hit By Wake Forest Fan

The Duke Blue Devils hit the court Wednesday for their matchup against Louisville, and somehow Kyle Filipowski was healthy enough to play.

At the beginning of the broadcast on the ACC Network, the announcers led into the game with a reference to Duke hitting the court for the first time since the court-storming incident at Wake Forest, milking that postgame scene for a few more minutes.

Call it a true miracle, or the power of medicine, but the Duke star was playing, just days after Filipowski was involved in a court-storming incident this past Saturday. The aftermath of the incident was just as bad as the immediate reaction from the Duke coaching staff.

It should be noted that ESPN reported that Filipowski did not need an X-ray or any type of imaging to diagnose his  sore knee, which I'm sure was bothering him.

The following days of discussion led to Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne floating an idea that the team whose fans rush the court would have to forfeit the game. To make the feedback even funnier, some folks took to the airwaves to discuss fans being arrested for storming a playing surface, which would obviously scare others into not doing the same.

The point is, the conversation around storming a playing surface following a win was only brought up for two reasons over the past month. First, it was Caitlin Clark getting into an incident following Iowa's loss to Indiana earlier in the month, which led to the same type of reactions we've seen over the past three days.

Then, it was the star Duke player getting bumped following the loss to the Demon Deacons.

Where were these folks over the past two years? Why didn't we hear the same type of reaction when Jermaine Burton put his hands on a female Tennessee fan following the football team's 2022 masterpiece in Knoxville?

To make matters even worse, Fillipowski called the incident against Wake Forrest ‘intentional’.

"I absolutely feel like it was personal, intentional for sure," Filipowski said following the loss."There's no reason where they see a big guy like me trying to work my way off the court and can't just work their way around me. There's no excuse for that."

Right, the random Wake Forest fan came rushing out of the stands to celebrate with the team, but his main thought was to intentionally run into Filipowski, causing him to be helped off the court.

I am not implying that the Duke star was lying  about being a little banged up following the court-storming incident, but the reaction in the aftermath was overblown. Sure, conferences around the country can do a better job at keeping fans off the court, if that's what they want.

It's good to see Filipowski on the court for Duke, but the conversations following the incident at Wake Forest were a bit much.
