Delusional Former Celtic Grant Williams Disappointed With No Tribute Video In His Return To Boston

The lack of self-awareness from current NBA players always astonishes me. Granted, I wouldn't put it past any NBA team nowadays to do a tribute video for a former bench player. Hell, the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets did tribute videos for Ben Simmons, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving despite winning no titles and demanding trades. However, former Boston Celtics backup Grant Williams is tripping.

In an interview on the Run It Back show on FanDuel TV, Williams was bummed out about not getting a tribute video from the Celtics when he returned to Boston in April as a member of the Charlotte Hornets. For what it's worth, Grant missed the Hornets-Celtics game with an injury. *Insert the Nick Young meme of him looking at the camera confused*.

Celtics play-by-play announcer, Mike Gorman, said Williams was "annoying" and a "bad locker room guy". Dallas Mavericks assistant general manager Michael Finley felt similarly before trading Williams to Charlotte. According to Finley, Williams trash-talked Luka Dončić during practice. Well, when you mess with the bull, you get the horns, and Luka torched Williams in practice.

Quickly, let's break down Williams' four-season stint in Boston by the numbers to see if he's worthy of a tribute video.

  • NBA title: 0.
  • Starts: 58 out of 288 games.
  • Points per game: 6.2.
  • Career-high as a Celtic: 25 points.
  • NBA All-Star Games: 0.
  • All-NBA Anything (Rookie, Defense, First-Team, etc.): 0.

So, my response to Williams' disappointment is "What the f--- are you talking about"? Tribute videos are for fan favorites of championship teams and/or legends. Bill Simmons, Dave Portnoy, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and even Donnie Wahlberg deserve a tribute video from the Celtics before Grant bleeping Williams. And as funny as this story is on its own, the internet's commentary of Williams' being butt-hurt is way better.
