Dak Prescott Won't Be Facing Charges In 'Extortion Plot' By Ex

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will not face charges stemming from a $100 million lawsuit by an alleged victim who claimed Prescott sexually assaulted her in 2017.

The woman's testimony of her encounter with Prescott dates back to 2017. The lawsuit details: "At the time of the alleged assault, Mr. Prescott was single, and in fact, the timeline of events and Defendant Shores’s actions in the seven years since the alleged assault are consistent with being involved with only consensual actions with Mr. Prescott."

Dallas Police announced on Thursday that the woman's suit against Prescott had been dismissed due to a lack of evidence supporting the alleged incident that occurred after Prescott's rookie year in the NFL.

"An investigation was conducted, and the case is closed ... Detectives determined there was insufficient evidence an offense was committed," Dallas police spokesman Kristin Lowman shared, as relayed by  The Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Prescott and his legal team have strongly denied the sexual assault claims by Victoria Shores of Fort Worth, calling the $100 million lawsuit an extortion attempt. Shores allegedly sent Prescott and his team a letter with the intent to sue Prescott in February of last year, demanding the nine-figure sum.

Weeks ago, news broke that Shores' case had been dismissed in Dallas County. Her attorney, Yoel Zehaie, told OutKick that the suit remained active, contrary to reports that the legal team abandoned it in Dallas with the intent of filing it in Collins County.

In March, Prescott countersued Shores, seeking $100 million from her and her lawyers as part of the lawsuit, filed in Collin County, Texas. Shores and her team filed a motion to dismiss the countersuit.

"Recently, Mr. Prescott found himself the subject of an extortion plot," McCathern said in a previous statement.

The Defendant and her legal team have threatened to go public with a completely fabricated story of sexual assault from nearly a decade ago, and demanded that Mr. Prescott immediately pay $100 million in exchange for her not pressing false charges with the authorities.

"Mr. Prescott — a new father to a baby girl — has great empathy for survivors of sexual assault. He fervently believes that all perpetrators of such crimes should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. To be clear, Mr. Prescott has never engaged in any non-consensual, sexual conduct with anyone. Lies hurt. Especially, malicious lies. We will not allow the Defendant and her legal team to profit from this attempt to extort millions from Mr. Prescott."
