Cristiano Ronaldo Snaps Selfie Mid-Game With Young Fan In Adorable Moment...That Shouldn't Happen Again

Even if you’re not a soccer fan, you probably know who Cristiano Ronaldo is.

He’s scored an uncanny number of goals at both the club and international level, played for some of the most prestigious domestic teams in the world, and has been named the best soccer player in the world in five different seasons.

So yeah, this guy is pretty good, and in his native Portugal, he’s basically royalty. Many fans will do whatever it takes to meet him, even if it means taking drastic measures - and that happened earlier today.

Ronaldo was playing for Portugal today against Turkey in the Euro 2024 tournament (which happens every four years and is basically the World Cup for European countries). In the latter stages of the game, an (approximately) 10-year-old fan blew past security and got on the pitch with the goal of snapping a selfie with the superstar.

(Side note: props to this little man for outwitting a professional team of security guards. That alone is impressive - although I wouldn’t advise doing it again).

As the little man made his way to Ronaldo, the Portuguese star did not look frustrated. Instead, he welcomed the kid with open arms, smiled for the picture, and laughed as the child ran away (where he was finally caught by security).

Again, that moment was awesome for everyone involved. But you shouldn’t storm a field while the game is going on (after the game is perfectly fine though).

However, several adults didn’t get that memo, and a mind-boggling five other adults attempted to rush the field to get to Ronaldo in the waning minutes of the game, and immediately after its conclusion (Portugal would win 3-0).

Portugal coach Roberto Martinez said after the game that security must do better at handling these situations.

"It shouldn't happen. There is lots of security, so it shouldn't happen. Maybe there is a message to that fans, that this is not the right way [to behave]. The message is that it could get worse for the future and it's not good that the players are so exposed on the pitch," Martinez said.

While that certainly is true, it’s good that Ronaldo helped this one fan get the memory of a lifetime.
