Travis Hunter Surprises Mom With 5-Bedroom House In Savannah In Ultimate NIL Flex
Remember when you were in college, and you could barely afford rent on the apartment you shared with three other people? Well, as a sophomore at Colorado, Travis Hunter just bought his mom a house.
In a YouTube video posted Thursday, the All-American cornerback and wide receiver surprised his mother with a five-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath dream house in Savannah, Ga. And to make the gift even sweeter, he handed over the keys on her birthday.
"Y'all got me good," Hunter's mom exclaimed, as the family cheered and popped confetti in the living room.
With an estimated annual valuation of $2.4 million, Hunter currently ranks sixth among college athletes. Some of his deals include EA Sports, Leaf Trading Cards and Celsius Energy Drink.
And a house isn't the only major purchase the 20-year-old has made since hitting the NIL lottery as a member of Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes.
In November, he gifted his now-fiancée, Leanna Lee, a Tesla Model X — matte black — with a custom Hello Kitty car wrap. In February, he popped the question with a ring that definitely didn't look like it came from Walmart.
Travis Hunter's Mom Gets A Home Upgrade
Hunter and his fiancée are already planning visits to mom's new house.
Originally from the Atlanta area, Hunter admitted that he spends as much time as possible in Savannah — mostly because the fishing is top-notch. It's also convenient that Leeanna's parents already live in Savannah, so the families can spend time together.
"Moving her to Savannah, next to Leanna's parents, so we don't have to make two trips every time we go to visit," Hunter said. "And it's much easier for us. And I can also fish a lot."
Purchasing a new home for his mother is pretty funny, though, given Hunter's beef with Nick Saban just two years ago.
While promoting the 2022 World Games, Saban explained a rule that restricts schools from employing NIL to recruit players — and he threw shade at Hunter, who played for Jackson State at the time.
"Jackson State paid a guy a million dollars last year that was a really good Division I player to come to school," the then-Alabama head coach said. "It was in the paper, and they bragged about it. Nobody did anything about it."

Saban was referring to rumors that Hunter had accepted a $1 million-plus deal with Penn Gaming. But Hunter denied those rumors.
"I got a mil[lion]?" he tweeted at the time. "But my mom still stays in a 3 bedroom house with five kids."
Whether it was $1 million in 2022, $2.4 million in 2023 or both, mom's doing just fine now.
