New College Football Video Game Release Date Revealed By Insider
It appears the release date for "College Football 25" is known to people behind the scenes.
The first college football game from EA Sports in 11 years will hit shelves this summer, and as I previously reported, the release window is some point in July.
Kirk Herbstreit backed up that time window in a recent interview with Pat McAfee. Well, it appears we can now drill down the day.
"College Football 25" will drop in the back half of July.
Just as a Playstation rep told me about the July release - which, again, Herbstreit confirmed - I went back to the well to figure out what the gaming giant might know in early April.
A rep told me the release date is July 19th, and the only thing that could change the release date at this point would be a delay. The rep noted that it's highly unlikely any delay would occur.
To make matters even more interesting, I went and looked at the game's official Wikipedia page, and it turns out the date had been there for anyone willing to look.
I kid you not, it states July 19 in broad daylight and nobody even seemed to notice.
Now, what is interesting here is that video games don't generally drop on Fridays, which is what July 19 is. Generally speaking, games come out on Tuesdays.
I noted this to the Playstation rep, who just simply responded that as of now, this one is different.
It's also worth noting that gaming/production/streaming companies and search engines are often given information way ahead of the public and reporters.
A great example of this is when the return date of "The Last Ship" auto-populated on Google search several years ago, despite there not being a single piece of reporting about when it would return.
The exact same thing happened with "Ozark." Despite there being no reporting on the season three premiere date, the information had found its way to Google's auto answer when the episodes were loaded into the backend.
Of course, things change all the time, but it does seem like there's now multiple reasons we should all be circling July 19th on the calendar. Let's hope it's true, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
