Colin Cowherd Thinks JJ Redick Wearing His Hat Backwards May Hurt His Chances Of Landing NBA Coaching Job
It is extremely well documented that Colin Cowherd can not stand when people wear their hats backwards.
Years ago, the Fox Sports radio host started a back-and-forth with Baker Mayfield for wearing his hat backwards, and during the most-recent NFL season, Cowherd called out Brock Purdy for wearing a backwards hat.
Cowherd's latest target is former NBA player turned ESPN analyst JJ Redick.
During the most recent episode of his ‘Mind The Game’ podcast with LeBron James, Redick had the audacity of wearing his hat backwards.
A clip from the podcast was shown during Wednesday's edition of ‘The Herd,' and just as every long-time Cowherd follower would have predicted, his attention immediately turned to Redick's backwards hat.
"I didn't hear a word LeBron said," Cowherd told co-host Jason McIntyre. "I couldn't stop staring at the hat."
Redick has been linked to various coaching vacancies around the NBA, including the Los Angeles Lakers, but Cowherd believes that if the former NBA star wants to better his chances of landing a gig then he needs to turn his hat around.
"JJ Redick is going for NBA head coaching jobs. He looks like a guy that's gonna move my couch. Didn't like it. I would tell JJ to his face, like, 'Dude, you're gonna be an executive in this league. You're going to be a high-level executive or coach. … I don't like that look at all.'"
Look, we all have our weird characteristics, but Cowherd having such a strong opinion about highly-successful professional athletes wearing backwards hats is bizarre.
"I have a right to be bothered by what I perceive as an intellectual basketball semi-savant looking like that," Cowherd later explained.
While he didn't approve of his hat, Cowherd had plenty of positive things to say about Redick.
"He's one of the most cerebral guys in the world talking basketball, literally," Cowherd said. "He's so layered. He's like a Christopher Nolan in Hollywood, who's directing at a different level. JJ Redick is talking basketball at a different level."
To each their own.
