CNN Wanted Patrick Mahomes' Thoughts On Biden, Chiefs QB Too Smart For Dumb Question

CNN's Abby Phillip prodded Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes for his thoughts on a newfound Taylor Swift conspiracy, whose narrative tacitly pins hate toward Swift against conservatives to make them look like the bad guys.

Is the theory worth hyping up? Of course not, unless you're part of the brain trust at CNN. Phillip spoke with Mahomes during his celebratory trip to Disneyland on Monday after beating the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, 25-22.

Mahomes delivered the perfect non-answer to shut the NewsNight anchor up for the cardinal sin of trying to mix politics with football (gulp).

CNN's Dumb Investigative Journalism Fails To Impress Patrick Mahomes

It wasn't much of a Sean Strickland moment for Mahomes as much as it was a straightforward answer to stump the CNN talking head.

"There were some wild conspiracy theories that were flying around this season that the Taylor Swift effect was all scripted to allow Taylor to use the Super Bowl for politics," Phillip, bereft of self-awareness, told Mahomes.

WATCH:

The CNN correspondent's pressing investigative question, needless to say, missed the target. She addressed Biden's ‘meme’ about coordinating a Chiefs Super Bowl win to ramp up the hype around Taylor Swift and by extension, stir more votes for the Dems this election year. Wild stuff.

"So the president himself, President Biden, kind of got in on the joke a little there. What do you make of just how this has spiraled, not just to football, but to politics in all these different areas?"

Mahomes responded, "Yeah, it’s been wild to see. I mean, I try to focus in on football as much as possible, but there’s always some conspiracy theories out there."

He wisely added, "I just try to enjoy football, my family, and I kind of stay off social media as much as possible."

Well, well, well … turns out guys who are truly good at what they do don't leave wiggle room for politics to hamper their focus. If CNN was worth its salt they'd ask more about Travis Kelce's spat with Andy Reid or perhaps discuss the confusion over the overtime rules. But not at CNN, whose line of questioning is about as predictable as a Brian Ferentz playbook.

While the right side of the political aisle certainly didn't appreciate getting their football spiked with Taylor talk all year, people from all ends of the spectrum chimed in against the Swift craze that overtook the NFL in 2023-24.

Does anyone truly care about Taylor Swift as much as CNN claims they do? Eh, probably not. It was fun while it lasted; now it's so last season.

Conspiracy Time …

How about this for a conspiracy about a conspiracy: CNN and the Dems are ramping up the ‘conservative conspiracy' angle around Taylor Swift to make their political opponents look crazy.

Taylor may not directly be stirring up votes for Dems, but the political party still hopes to benefit from the ‘lunacy’ of the Right.

A self-made conspiracy used to poke at the other side? Never …
