Chiefs' Troubled WR Rashee Rice Reflects On Offseason Issues

It's been a troubling offseason for Kansas City Chiefs wideout Rashee Rice, who is heading into his sophomore season.

As reported by OutKick's Glenn Guilbeau, Rice, 24, was arrested on March 30 and faces eight felony charges concerning a hit-and-run incident. Rice's transgression allegedly involved six vehicles after he started drag-racing his Lamborghini at 119 mph on a Dallas highway against his friend. The collision involved four additional vehicles and injured seven people according to reports.

Two victims involved, Irina Gromova and Edvard Petrovskiy, are suing Rice for $10 million in punitive damages, reportedly suffering an extensive list of injuries, including facial lacerations and wounds that required stitching.

Rice ran into more trouble this offseason after facing an accusation of hitting a photographer at a Dallas nightclub on May 7; the victim reportedly declined to press charges.

Rice spoke about his off-the-field concerns during a youth football camp Saturday, sharing that he's "learned so much."

"I’ve learned so much from that," Rice said. "All I can do is mature and continue to grow from that. This is a step in a better direction for me.

"Accidents and stuff like that happen, but all you can do is move forward and walk around being the same person. Try to be positive so that everybody can feel your love and your great energy."

Coming into the offseason, Rice was slotted as the Chiefs' top wideout, having amassed 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in the 2023 regular season.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid previously commented on Rice's off-the-field issues, recommending that law enforcement make a determination regarding the player's future rather than putting that onus on the team.
