Chiefs' Travis Kelce Wants To Play Until He's Physically Unable To Take The Football Field

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is riding a hot streak after winning a Super Bowl (his third), launching an uber-successful podcast and still engaging in America's most discussed relationship. And Kelce doesn't appear keen on stopping anytime soon.

Travis Kelce spoke to the media after OTAs on Tuesday and shared his outlook on potential retirement. After a decade of NFL football, Kelce has not lost his love for the game. He dismissed any concern of retiring, seemingly promising multiple seasons until he's ready to hang up the cleats.

"I really can't put a timeframe on (retirement). I love coming to work every single day," Kelce said. "Obviously, I know there's opportunities outside of football for me. You have to keep in perspective that I'm still a little kid when I come into this building, man."

While still an elite name at the position, Travis Kelce's production went through sluggish moments last season. In Kelce's case, the veteran tight end will show up in the postseason regardless of his regular-season production. Kelce flipped the switch during the playoffs last year. In four games last postseason (en route to a Super Bowl win), Kelce recorded 355 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. During the regular season, Kelce tallied 93 catches for 984 yards.

By all accounts, he's still an elite pass-catching tight end. And with Rashee Rice's uncertainties in the wide receivers room, the Chiefs may need Kelce now more than ever.

Following Kelce's splash of a postseason, the Kansas City Chiefs signed him to a new two-year contract,

"I know I'm 34 years old," Kelce added, "but I have a love to do this right here, in the middle of the heat in June. I love coming to work every single day. …

"Kansas City’s been home for me the past 11 years," Kelce said. "I’m reminded of that every single time I come back in the city. I take the offseason to recharge, but at the same time I’m a football player. I love playing, this will always be my main focus."

Could Travis be focused on outplaying his brother / Eagles legend Jason Kelce, who retired this offseason at 36? Considering their longstanding fraternal rivalry, Travis may be aiming for the last laugh over his bro.

For now, Kelce and the Chiefs are zeroed in on pulling off the Super Bowl Three-peat.
