Chiefs Safety Justin Reid Says All The Taylor Swift Hatred Is Unjustified
Kansas City Chiefs safety Justin Reid thinks Taylor Swift gets too much unnecessary hatred.
Unless you’ve lived under a rock for the past five months, you’ll know by now that Swift is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Everyone who follows the NFL has had more than their fair share of Swift coverage throughout the season. As such, fans have grown tired of the league’s love story with the pop star.
Even so, Reid still believes that the distaste for Swift is unjustified.
"She’s very, very sweet," Reid said. "She found a way to compliment everyone she talked to. I don’t understand why she’s getting all the hate. She’s an awesome person, awesome artist all around."
That may all be true. Reid certainly has observed Swift up close more than the average person and would have better insight on this.
But some fans aren’t growing tired of her simply because of her personality. Some fans just want to enjoy the same level of success as she has in her short NFL fandom.
Our very own Amber Harding - a Miami Dolphins fan, unfortunately - tweeted earlier this year that she wished her favorite team could be as successful as Swift’s.
This point was not lost on the Kelce brothers, who discussed this on their Wednesday episode of the "New Heights" podcast.
"Also shout out to the newest members of the Chiefs Kingdom — Taylor Swift — who has officially reached the Super Bowl in her rookie year," Jason Kelce said.
"Shout out to Tay," Travis laughed. "Thanks for joining the team."
Yes, there is a certain demographic that takes it a little too far, which Swift calls the "dads, Brads, and Chads." But for the rest of the population, maybe the disdain stems from reasons that have less to do with Swift the person, and the circumstances surrounding her.
Either way, the Swift coverage is all going to end after Super Bowl LVIII. I think I speak for most of America when I say that we'll all look forward to this needed break.
