Remember Ole Miss Star Chad Kelly? He's Accused Of Harassment In Lawsuit

Former Ole Miss star Chad Kelly is facing a serious lawsuit in Canada.

The former SEC QB is being accused in a lawsuit filed by a former Toronto Argonauts strength-and-conditioning coach of violating the Ontario Human Rights Code, according to the CBC. She's also accusing the team of wrongful termination.

Kelly is accused of having "a pattern of of harassment" that started with "unwanted romantic advances and escalating into instances of threatening language," according to the same report.

The unnamed woman claims in the lawsuit the team didn't do anything when informed of Kelly's alleged behavior, and it also claims assistant GM John Murphy said she "opened a can of worms that didn't need to be opened."

The woman wants $80,000 from Chad Kelly and another $85,714 from the team.

The CFL is also now getting involved with the situation involving the former Ole Miss QB and his current team in Canada.

"We take the allegations against the Toronto Argonauts and Mr. Kelly very seriously. We have opened an investigation in accordance with the league's gender-based violence policy. Out of respect for this process and all the parties involved, we will not be able to provide further comment until our investigation has been completed," the CFL announced Wednesday.

The team itself also said it was aware of the lawsuit, but wouldn't get into specifics past acknowledging it, according to the same report from the CBC.

It's important to note in any situation like this that anyone accused should have the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise in court. That goes for Chad Kelly, the team and anyone else who might ever face accusations.

Kelly spent some time in the NFL, but was never able to stick around. He was also infamously arrested for trespassing while with the Broncos, and that resulted in his time with the team coming to a quick end. He eventually went north to the CFL after a stint with the Colts, and has found some big success. Not only has Kelly been successful on the field, but he's also the highest-paid player in the entire league on a three-year deal worth $1.865 million.
