Carson Wentz Signs With New NFL Team: DETAILS

Carson Wentz is still hanging around in the NFL.

Wentz, the second overall pick in 2016, spent part of last season with the Rams, but has failed to have any real impact as a starter in the league for the past couple years.

Many have wondered if his career will be over sooner rather than later. It might be, but it's not going to come to an end right now because he has a new deal.

Adam Schefter reported early Tuesday morning that Wentz agreed to a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Details of the deal with the defending Super Bowl champs aren't known, and it's not clear how much of the money in the one-year deal is guaranteed.

Carson Wentz signs with the Chiefs.

Wentz spent the first half of last season without a team before the Rams brought him in to sit behind Matthew Stafford on the depth chart.

The former second overall pick started the season finale and threw for 163 yards, two touchdowns and an interception against the 49ers.

Long gone are the days of him being the face of a franchise like he was in his earlier days with the Eagles, but at least he's sticking around in the NFL.

The former North Dakota State QB's last actually statistically impressive season was all the way back in 2019 when he threw for 27 touchdowns and more than 4,000 yards.

His 2021 campaign with the Colts wasn't horrific, but not good enough for Indianapolis to want to stick with him. He's on his fifth NFL team since 2020.

Carson Wentz has been through a lot in his career since entering the league in 2016, and he's now with the defending Super Bowl champs. The good news for him is that there will be zero expectations for him to play if he makes the roster for the season opener. He can sit on the bench, hold a clipboard and still cash NFL checks.
