Carlos Alcaraz Destroys Novak Djokovic To Capture Back-To-Back Wimbledon Titles

There's a new alpha dog in tennis and his name is Carlos Alcaraz. The 21-year-old Spaniard steamrolled tennis legend Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, defeating the Serbian in straight sets.

The Wimbledon championship match was a repeat of last year's final, though that contest was much more thrilling. Alcaraz needed five sets to beat Djokovic in 2023. He only needed the minimum of three on Sunday.

Alcaraz deployed an all-out assault of Djokovic in the 2024 Wimbledon final, winning 12 of the first 16 games, breaking Djokovic 4 times, en route to a 2-0 lead.

There was some drama in the third set, as Alcaraz appeared headed to an easy victory. He led 5-4 and served for the match. Alcaraz took a quick 40-0 lead and had three match points.

But following a double-fault, the Spanish star appeared poised to capture the crown. As the ball was coming down towards Alcaraz, a fan screamed, which caused him to send his shot wide of the line.

Djokovic would go on to break Alcaraz for the first time in the match, keeping his hopes alive.

However, Alcaraz's insane athletic ability proved too much for the 37-year-old Djokovic and the young phenom won the third set tiebreak to clinch the championship.

With the "Big Three" Era in tennis appearing to be at the end, Carlos Alcaraz is undoubtedly the best player in the world. He won the French Open last month, becoming just the second Spanish player to ever win both in the same year (Rafael Nadal).

The Wimbledon victory is his fourth Grand Slam tournament title. He also won the 2022 U.S. Open, meaning he only needs to win the Australian Open to complete the career Grand Slam.

Given the trajectory of his career, it would be an utter shock if he didn't accomplish that feat and much more.
