Canucks Nikita Zadorov Fires Hilarious Richochet Shot At The City Of Edmonton

The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers are tied at 1-1 in their second-round series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs series, with things shifting to Edmonton for Game 3 on Sunday.

You can expect Oilers fans to be out in full force and they may have gotten some bulletin board material from Canucks defenseman Nikita Zadorov.

Although, I'm not convinced he meant to do it.

Zadorov was talking to the media on Saturday when he fired the unintentional ricochet shot at the Province of Alberta's biggest non-Calgary city.

"It's fun. They have good fans. Diehard fans," Zadorov said.

Alright, good start, always good to give credit where it's due, and the Oilers faithful have put up with a lot over the past two decades or so. Hell, even this season was a roller coaster thanks to an abysmal start.

But it was the next bit that didn't come out quite right.

"Pretty much nothing else to do in that city except watch hockey," Zadorov continued. So I like what they're doing, that's why they love their team and support them so hard. It's been fun. I've only had good experiences there, for sure."

Man, I love this.

You've got to remember that Zadorov isn't a native English speaker, so that may factor in a little bit. But I think it's hilarious that what was intended to be an honest-to-goodness compliment of his opponent morphed into an inadvertent slam.

Even better, it's a slam we've heard about Edmonton for many years.

I'm anxious to see the fan reaction to this. I don't think Zadorov is going to hear boos, but I'd be willing to bet that there will be at least one fan holding a sign referring to his comments on the broadcast.

If I had to guess, it'll say something like, "I'm here because there's nothing else to do."
