Cameron Young Shoots Legendary 3rd-Round 59 In 2024 Travelers Championship

Cameron Young became the 12th golfer to have a sub-60 round on the PGA TOUR Saturday, and the first in nearly four years. Young tore up the par-70 TPC River Highlands in Round 3 of the 2024 Travelers Championship to card a 59. He started Moving Day at the Travelers T43 and went into the clubhouse tied with Tom Kim for the lead at -13, who started his third round after Young finished his.

The Wake Forest alum shot a 28 on the front nine, then a 31 on the back nine. He shot five-under in his first four holes, featuring a hole-out eagle from 142 yards on the second hole. It was Young’s first of two eagles in Round 3. However, Cameron's "59 watch" officially began with his second eagle at Hole No. 15.

Young drove it 280 yards onto the short par-4's green before jarring a four-foot-two eagle putt. He "left some meat on the bone" Saturday. The third-year PGA TOUR pro followed up his eagle on 15 with a 173-yard tee shot over the water on the 16th hole to set up a 7-foot-four putt for birdie. Unfortunately, Young left the birdie putt inches short.

This led to drama at the end of Young's legendary round since he still needed a birdie to shoot in the 50s. Cameron immediately got his birdie on the next hole, a 425-yard par-4. But, he missed his eighth fairway on Hole No. 18, leading to his third missed green-in-regulation. Fortunately, Young got "up and down" for par, wrapping up his third-round 59.
