Caleb Williams Shares Blunt Thoughts About Anger He Experienced At Oklahoma

Caleb Williams isn't afraid to get brutally honest about his time at Oklahoma.

Williams started his college career with Lincoln Riley and the Sooners, but wasn't the day one starter in Norman. Spencer Rattler, who was once viewed as a potential first overall pick, was on the roster, and he kept the starting job when the 2021 season opened.

Caleb Williams eventually took over during an October game against Texas and led an awesome comeback win. The rest is history. Williams never gave the starting job back, followed Riley to USC, won the Heisman is viewed as a lock to be the first pick in the NFL Draft later his week.

Caleb Williams reflects on time at Oklahoma.

While some people might play off how they felt years ago as a true freshman, Williams is shining a light on what happened with the Sooners. He felt like he'd earned the starting job and was incredibly frustrated and angry when he didn't initially play.

"At the time, I was so angry. So frustrated because I didn't feel like...that wasn't what I wanted to hear because I felt like I was the best. I felt like I could have helped us win all the games. Get more reps. Get later in the season, and I'm ready for those moments later in the season. So, I didn't get those reps. So, I kept preparing the best I could so when I had my moment, there was no way he was ever going to get it back," Williams said on the "Pivot Podcast."

It's easy to crush Caleb Williams for a lot of different reasons. He brings a lot of criticism on himself, but when it comes to these comments, I think a lot of football fans will love them.

You want your QB to have some serious edge and a competitive spirit. You want him to have a fire in his belly. Caleb Williams thought he should have started immediately, and it sounds like he was pretty livid when that didn't happen.

Right, wrong or indifferent, you can't knock the guy for keeping it real. He also turned out to be 100% correct with his assessment of Rattler because Williams is a significantly better QB.

Now, he'll come off the board Thursday night and begin his NFL career. There are still some red flags for sure, but I love a guy who wants to keep and isn't satisfied. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
