Caleb Williams Confident He Can Do Everything Patrick Mahomes Does

While there may be questions about Caleb Williams' success in college translating to the NFL, one thing nobody is questioning when it comes to the soon-to-be first-round draft pick is his confidence.

As every touted NFL prospect is constantly compared to players already in the league, Williams is no different, only he happens to have drawn comparisons for quite some time now to the best quarterback in the game, Patrick Mahomes.

Williams, who has played exactly zero snaps in the NFL, coming anywhere close to filling the shoes of Mahomes is a huge ask from the perspective of an outsider looking in.

For the man himself, however, he's already convinced that he can do anything Mahomes does out on the field. He's felt that way for years, in fact.

"Everybody watches Patrick and sees all the cool things he can do," Williams told CBS. "I always said, even in high school, that I don't think there's anything — obviously, it's special, but I don't think there's anything that I can't do that he's doing out there."

Some will take Williams' comments and try to spin it as a negative, or as him being over-confident, but at the end of the day general managers and coaches around the NFL want an extremely confident quarterback.

The odds are against Williams in becoming ‘the next Patrick Mahomes,’ but if he comes close to putting up Mahomes-like numbers and building a resume like the Chiefs' star has, every team in the league that doesn't employ Williams is going to wish he was under center for their franchise.

As for Williams letting the Mahomes comparisons get to his head, he's trying his best not to let that happen.

"I don't think too much of it other than, it's respect. Mahomes has been the best guy in the league basically since he got in the league," Williams said  in July.

Now all the attention turns to the Chicago Bears to see if they take Williams with the first pick and restart the franchise with another quarterback under center, yet again.
