Caitlin Clark Smashes WNBA Single-Game Assist Record To Seal Rookie Of The Year Race

Caitlin Clark turned Wednesday's game against the Dallas Wings into a historic performance: breaking the WNBA's single-game assists record.

This is who the Team USA roster snubbed, as a reminder.

Clark broke the record for most assists in a single game on Wednesday, tallying 19 assists and adding to her historic WNBA rookie campaign. She added 24 points and 6 rebounds atop her 19 assists, while Aaliyah Boston led the way for Indiana with 28 points.

Without fail, Clark delivered a dazzling performance for the sold-out arena in Arlington, impressing her fans with a few highlights, including a shifty behind-the-back assist.

Clark did it all; scoring, dishing assists and proving effective on the boards, and reminding us why she's the frontrunner for WNBA Rookie of the Year. The assists record was previously held by former five-time All-Star and WNBA champ, Courtney Vandersloot (18).

Clark piled on the incredible milestones on Wednesday night. Clark shattered the assists record and became the fastest WNBA player to reach 400 points and 200 assists, achieving this milestone in just 26 games, surpassing the previous record holder Sue Bird (33 games).

Clark also has a triple-double to her name, from a previous game.

Indiana Fever Nearly Steal Win On Historic Night For Caitlin Clark

In a disappointing turn of events, the Fever's comeback attempt ultimately fell short, losing to Dallas, 101-93. The Fever remain on pace to far exceed expectations for the season, sitting at 11-15. Last season, the Fever recorded 13 wins.

Riding a second-half surge, the Fever found themselves with a fourth-quarter lead and within two possessions of the tie in the final minutes. A crucial turnover by Clark sealed the deal as Indiana suffered a bitter loss heading into the All-Star and Olympic Games break.

The Fever return on Aug. 16 to take on the Seattle Storm.
