Fans Vow Not To Watch Women's Olympic Basketball After Caitlin Clark Snub: OutKick Poll
Many fans won't tune in for any women's Olympic basketball games with Caitlin Clark not on the roster.
It was revealed over the weekend that the most famous women's basketball player in the country won't be on the Olympic team.
It's an unbelievably stupid decision. Including Clark would have guaranteed her fans paid attention. Without her playing, it's unclear if anyone will care.
Fans aren't interested in women's Olympic basketball without Caitlin Clark
That got me thinking: Will fans now make the active decision to tune out in response to Clark being snubbed from the roster?
An OutKick poll with more than 2,500 responses shows the answer to that question is yes, and the results aren't close. More than 96% of voters don't plan on watching. Check out the comical results below, and hit me with your reactions at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
I could have told anyone running the USA women's team that this would be the outcome as soon as Clark wasn't included on the roster.
She's the most famous female athlete in the country, and she's the reason why the WNBA is now relevant. Even if you feel she's not a top five player and wouldn't start, she's more than talented enough to cook foreign players.
Putting Caitlin Clark on the roster would have brought the same attention the WNBA is currently receiving. Instead, the people making the decisions are so shortsighted that they didn't take 10 seconds to weigh the pros and cons of not including her.
We'll see if anyone pays attention to the games in Paris, but as the poll above shows, interest has fallen off a cliff without Clark playing. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
