Caitlin Clark Indiana Fever Jerseys Nearly Sell Out In One Hour

Caitlin Clark mania has officially reached a Fever pitch in Indiana. OK, lame joke, I know. Still, it's true. Within one hour of Clark being selected #1 overall in the WNBA Draft, Clark's #22 jersey was nearly sold out on the Fanatics website.

Darren Rovell was the first to notice late on Monday night.

That remains true as of Tuesday morning. On the Fanatics website, the only size available is the adult small.

Now, there are a few caveats to this. Normally, jerseys aren't readily available right after the draft. Typically, a site like Fanatics will take pre-orders. However, Rovell reports that they specifically did make some Clark jerseys ready to ship as soon as she was drafted.

Those are the ones that were quickly purchased. The normal, pre-order jerseys are available, but that's also because it will tell the site how many they need to produce.

Despite the caveat, there's no question that Clark's jersey is incredibly popular. Rovell added that her #22 Indiana Fever jersey became the biggest draft-night hit of all-time, surpassing Trevor Lawrence in 2021 when the Jaguars picked him #1 overall.

It's going to be fascinating to see if Clark can help the WNBA actually become relevant in the sports world. Women's college basketball, while never rising to this level, has garnered much more popularity overall than the WNBA ever has.

Succeeding at that level and drawing attention to the college game is impressive, but taking a league that is subsidized by the NBA – and has never made a profit – and turning it into a valuable sports entity would be a ridiculous feat.

Is Caitlin Clark up to that task? As usual in sports, it all depends on one thing: her play on the court.
