Bronny James Reportedly Ignoring NBA Workout Invites, Has Sights Set On Just 2 Teams, Including The Lakers

It's not a guarantee that Bronny James will hear his name called during the 2024 NBA Draft. In fact, there is a chance he will return to the college ranks after entering the transfer portal following his freshman campaign at USC.

James doesn't appear to be concerned about the odd chance that things don't work out in his favor - which is an understandable mindset as the son of LeBron James - seeing as how he's reportedly ignoring a number of workout invites from teams around the NBA.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Bronny currently holds 10 workout invites from various teams, but is holding out for only two teams in The Association: the Phoenix Suns and his dad's Los Angeles Lakers.

As things stand at the moment, the Suns hold the No. 22 pick in the first round with the Lakers holding the 17th overall pick, although it feels far more likely that if the Lakers do call young James' name it would be at No. 55 in the second round.

What makes this strategy from Bronny interesting is that earlier this month he went on the record claiming he hadn't given much thought about teaming up with his dad. Everyone, of course, saw right through his claim, and anyone holding out that he was speaking the truth, well this latest development should leave no doubt that he's thinking of playing alongside his father.

"My dream has always just been to put my name out, make a name for myself and, of course, get to the NBA," Bronny James said two weeks ago. "I never thought about playing with my dad. But of course, he's brought it up a couple times."

"This is a serious business. I don't feel like there would be a thought of ‘I’m just drafting this kid just because I'm gonna get his dad.' I don't think a GM would really allow that."

Bronny wants to not only get to the league but make a name for himself. Unfortunately, but also incredibly fortunately at the same time, he doesn't have that luxury as a son of LeBron James.
