Bronny James Brutally Destroyed By NBA Scouts

Some NBA scouts have a very low opinion of Bronny James.

LeBron James' oldest son is staying in the NBA Draft over finding a new college after a very rough freshman season at USC, and it doesn't make sense on paper.

The 6'1" guard averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting a downright terrible 36.6% from the field and 26.7% from three in 25 games with the Trojans.

In what world does that translate to being picked in the NBA Draft? Of course, we all know it doesn't, but LeBron seems intent on putting his thumb on the scale to make sure his son is drafted. Whether it works or not remains to be seen, but at least a couple of scouts aren't impressed.

NBA scouts torch Bronny James.

Marc J. Spears appeared on ESPN Friday to share thoughts from two unnamed NBA scouts, and their assessments of Bronny are brutal. Below are a few quick hitters.

  • "If the Lakers don't draft him, I don't see anyone drafting him."
  • "Teams will want him on a two-way [contract], and I don't think Klutch will want that."
  • "Positional athlete. Doesn't function as an elite athlete."
  • "Tweener stuck between two positions."
  • "Should be a point guard based on his size, but he can't run an offense."
  • "He is not an NBA prospect in my opinion."

Yeah, I think it's safe to say some scouts aren't buying what LeBron and Bronny are trying to sell. The reality is the Lakers might draft the former USC guard just to keep the four-time NBA champion happy.

Does that mean Bronny James has the skills and abilities to justify taking up an NBA roster? Not at all, and judging from Spears' report, scouts don't think he's even close to being ready.

Remember, he was listed at 6'4" in college. Bronny measured barely above 6'1" at the combine. He's an incredibly undersized guard.

We'll see if the Lakers draft him (seems likely), but there's nothing on paper to justify the Bronny James NBA hype. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
