Broncos' Top Wideout Upset After Russell Wilson's Departure, Scrubs Team From Social Media

The NFL media cried ‘good riddance’ at the split between Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. Wilson's Broncos teammates, however, don't sound as jolly over the news.

Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and more lamented Wilson's departure, via X. Sutton, the team's top wideout, turned his frustrations up a notch by removing all Broncos affiliations from his X account one day after Wilson's split.

Sutton added "What's next?" to his X bio, making an apparent suggestion that he may also be leaving Mile High.

Wilson and the Broncos were a dysfunctional pairing from the start — the bombshell announcement that the Broncos were set to release their QB1 didn't come as a surprise but still poses more ramifications for the Broncos than Russ for the foreseeable future.

As of now, Wilson appears to be the winner in the ‘divorce,’ owed $39 million from the Broncos next year. Wilson is also reportedly shopping himself to suitors under the potential of a minimum deal to land in a winning situation.

Wilson thanked the organization in a lengthy statement on Monday but omitted any mention of Denver's ownership or coach Sean Payton.

Meanwhile, Denver remains without a viable starter for a second reboot in as many seasons. The Broncos offense will need to be crafty without Wilson under center. Russ tallied 29 touchdowns for Denver last season — a total stunted by his late-season benching, which is now confirmed as a business decision.

Courtland Sutton may be reading the tea leaves not just with potential woes ahead for the offense, but at the negotiation table as well.

With the Broncos' massive cap hit courtesy of Wilson's departure, the team may turn to Sutton's $13 million base salary next season and sense a need to do some trimming.
