Brian Daboll Wishes Saquon Barkley The Best, Except When He Plays The Giants, For Obvious Reasons
The Saquon Barkley era for the New York Giants wasn't always smooth sailing, especially toward the end of his time there.
However, there don't seem to be any hard feelings from Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who said he wishes Barkley the best… although there are two times a year when that isn't the case, and I think you can probably figure out what they are.
"This is what it is every year in the NFL. You meet great people, whether it’s coaches, players, staff members, and unfortunately, everybody doesn’t stick together the entire time, it’s not what it was 30, 40 years ago," Daboll told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
"I’ve got a tremendous amount of respect for Saquon and all the players that went on to other places. It’s a special group when you’re going through an NFL season, you’ve got to go through ups and downs.
"Wish him all the best except when he is playing the Giants."
Yeah, I can understand that. Daboll and a lot of Giants probably would have preferred that Barkley wind up just about anywhere except the City of Brotherly Love.
I get that feeling that his first game against the Giants and/or back at MetLife has the making for one heck of a revenge game.
You may recall that Barkley held out last summer after turning down a three-year deal with the Giants. He did ultimately sign a one-year deal with the team for the 2023 season.
The Penn State product missed a little bit of time with an injury early in the year, and that contributed to his numbers being down a bit from 2022, but it also didn't help that he was playing for the struggling Giants.
Barkley decided to test free agency and signed a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this month.
