Brandon Nimmo's Miracle Walk-Off HR Sinks Braves In Primetime

What an amazin' primetime win for the Mets.

New York took on the Atlanta Braves in a Mother's Day Sunday Night Baseball face-off that ended in stunning fashion. Coming off a tense Saturday night matchup, the Mets followed up a tense ninth-inning with another ninth-inning thriller.

Facing a one-run deficit and a full count, New York's Nimmo faced one out and a runner in scoring position against Braves pitcher A.J. Minter. Initially, Nimmo was expected to sit out Sunday's contest due to right-side soreness. He stepped in as a pinch hitter in the final minute and more than delivered.

Down 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth, Nimmo swung and homered for the walk-off Mets victory. Nimmo blasted a 90-mph cutter to right center field with enough carry to clear the fence by a couple of feet.

Braves fans were let down by another blown save by Minter while Citi Field lit up with Nimmo's last-minute heroics.

The Mets walked away with the 4-3 win.

"I guess we can say he's healthy right?" Mets skipper Carlos Mendoza said about Nimmo after his game-winner homer.

On Saturday, all eyes were on the Mets and Braves matchup as Atlanta maintained a combined no-hitter, deep into the ninth inning

Just one out away from the official no-hitter, Braves reliever Raisel Iglesias faced Mets slugger J.D. Martinez. Atlanta's fans and players were crushed when Iglesias lost the bid on the first pitch of the at-bat. Martinez swung and homered.

Through the wins and losses, it wasn't a bad weekend for Mets baseball.
