Bob Huggins Open To Coaching WVU Again, But Has A Big Demand
Bob Huggins is interested in returning to West Virginia, but changes will have to be made.
Huggins left the WVU program after being arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence, and the move came shortly after he was disciplined for using a homophobic slur during a radio interview.
His time with the Mountaineers ended in rapid and disappointing fashion. Yet, he's open to the idea of returning or coaching elsewhere.
Huggins spoke to KDKA-TV and suggested he would coach elsewhere if there was an opportunity, but his true goal is to possibly return to WVU, according to Ethan Bock.
Bob Huggins open to returning to West Virginia.
However, Huggins has a big demand for him to return to the program he had so much success with in Morgantown. The school would have to make "a change in leadership" for him to be interested in taking back his old job.
While Huggins might be interested in West Virginia bringing him back, it's highly unlikely the school has the same feelings.
You don't get shoved out the door following an arrest for alleged drunk driving shortly after a different disciplinary issue and then get invited back.
Once a coach is gone, they're almost always gone for good. Now, has West Virginia been solid without him? Absolutely not. The Mountaineers won just nine games this season.
It was a disaster in Huggins' first season away from the program, but that hardly means the school's administration is interested in bringing him back.
We'll see what happens with Huggins, but I think it's safe to rule out a return to West Virginia. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
