Bob Costas Joins 'Don't @ Me" To Give His Thoughts On MLB Legend Willie Mays' Passing: One of a Kind

MLB and baseball fans continue to pay tribute to the great Willie Mays, who died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday at the age of 93.

OutKick's Dan Dakich welcomed legendary sportscaster Bob Costas on Wednesday's episode of "Don't @ Me." Costas shared how the once-in-a-lifetime player and person in Mays changed baseball.

Dakich and Costas discussed Mays' unique style that gave MLB a new flair that grew the game.

"I don't think people understood the flair that Willie Mays had in a bland sort of era," Dakich told Costas.

Costas said, "[Mays] had style without an ounce of exhibitionism. He had actual style in everything he did."

"If you went to a game and had never seen a baseball game before and knew nothing about the game, and Willie did nothing special, let's say he went 0-for-4 that day," Costas added. "The way he carried himself, there was still something about him. He was legitimately great. Objectively great. But then there was the part that you couldn't really quantify."

Costas admired the spectacle that "The Say Hey Kid" brought to the game and how he never failed to stun baseball fans, new and old.

"You knew it when you saw it and felt it. He just had a presence, and he was just so much fun to watch. And he knew it. He often said, ‘You have got to entertain the people.’"

"One of my favorite quotes from him was, ‘I can make a hard play look easy, but also make an easy play look hard'," Costas shared with Dakich.
