Bob Costas And Charles Barkley Think Taylor Swift Would Be Less Criticized If She Wore MAGA Hat

Former sportscaster Bob Costas claims Americans unfairly scrutinize Taylor Swift because she previously endorsed Joe Biden in 2020.

Costas appeared on the CNN program "King Charles" with Charles Barkley on Wednesday to discuss the recent criticism of Swift.

"All of a sudden, because they don’t like something about Taylor Swift,  either they don’t like the Chiefs or they’ve inferred Taylor Swift might not be a ‘Trumper,’ then they’re annoyed by Taylor Swift," Costas said.

"I can guarantee you all this news would not be happening if she was wearing a MAGA hat. They would love it."

Not exactly.

The criticism of Swift would be far fiercer if she were a conservative. Reporters, fellow celebrities, and modern NFL players would crucify Swift if she wore a MAGA hat, as Costas suggested.

Ask Tom Brady.

Three years ago, a USA Today reporter berated Brady during Super Bowl week for sporting a Trump hat in his locker five years prior." [Brady has] gotten a pass from criticism [having] a Donald Trump hat in his locker in 2015 because he is white," said the outlet.

Unfortunately, there was no one on-set to provide this counterpoint to Costas. Rather, Charles Barkley nodded along:

"I’m gonna look right in that camera," Barkley responded, "if you’re screaming at Taylor Swift saying she ruined [football], you’re just a loser.

"You’re just a loser or a jackass. You can be A or B."

Again, not exactly.

There certainly are some "losers and jackasses" complaining about Taylor Swift. We won't dispute that.

Wednesday, we explained how there are three groups of people complaining about her. There are the "grifters," to whom Barkley refers. 

But there are also the"jokesters," those playfully ragging on a pop star hooking up with a player on the villainous Kansas City Chiefs. They are just having fun. They are sports fans.

Then there are the "annoyed." This group doesn't hate Swift. They are not spewing vitriol. Not are they losing sleep over the television networks showing her. 

However, they don't have any interest in a sudden romance that has nothing to do with the product on the field. They just want to watch football. 

Let them live.

Simply put, not everyone complaining about Swift is pushing the theory that she is a PsyOp planted by the deep state to rig the election. 

The censorship industrial complex, not Taylor Swift, is trying to rig the election for Biden. Let's keep our focus aimed properly.

Still, we prefer Barkley's tough guy defense of Swift over Costas' faux-sophistication that she is a victim because she's liberal.
