Billy Horschel Shares Powerful Message About His Wife's Sobriety: 'Amazing To See What Her Life Has Become'

Billy Horschel isn't just celebrating his first Top 10 finish in a major since 2013 this week after his strong showing at the PGA Championship. The eight-time PGA Tour winner and his family are also celebrating his wife Brittany's sobriety.

During his prep work ahead of this week's Charles Schwab Challenge in Texas, Horschel jumped on social media to share a few photos of Brittany as well as a video of himself discussing his wife being eight years sober.

"Today is a special day in the Horschel household. It’s May 21st, and it’s Brittany’s eight-year sobriety date," Horschel said. "It’s truly amazing to see what her life has become, how she has changed as a person, become an unbelievable mother, become an unbelievable support system to me."

After congratulating his wife on her milestone, Horschel made it a point to address anyone else watching the video who may be battling addiction at the moment.

"I know there’s a lot of people out there struggling with addiction, and you can’t see the light at the tunnel."

"You don’t think you can get sober, you don’t think that anyone who can care for you or love you enough to help you through the journey, but there is. There are people out there. So if you’re struggling with some form of addiction, please reach out to people because people want to help."

"Like I said, if you’re struggling out there please reach out to people because your life will change, I promise you that," he continued. "It will change if you really want to get sober, you will live the life that you’ve always wanted to so all the best out there. Take care. Love you all."

Following his win at the 2017 AT&T Byron Nelson, Horschel spoke vaguely about issues off of the golf course, which led Brittany to share a post the next day discussing her battle with alcoholism.

"I write this nervously, skeptically, but also proudly because I have embraced the woman I have become over the past year," she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "One year ago, I began a journey to a healthy me, mentally and physically. I will keep his simple, ‘I am an alcoholic.’ I say that now without shame."

Brittany shared her post on May 22, 2017, the day after she became one year sober.

Horschel has had a season to remember on the PGA Tour this year having won the Corales Puntacana Championship in April to go along with three other Top 10 finishes, including a T-8 finish in last week's PGA Championship.
