Internet Baffled By Bill Russell - Who Died In 2022 - Tweeting During The NBA Finals

People were in a state of confusion Sunday night when Bill Russell's official X fired off a tweet.

Russell, a legendary NBA player, died in 2022 at the age of 88, and that would mean his accounts should go dormant.

Not so fast. His official account tweeted "LET GO CELTICS!!" during game two of the NBA Finals between Boston and Dallas. Very strange. Very strange, indeed.

The internet had a good old mystery on its hands.

People confused by tweet from Bill Russell's official X account.

As you'd expect, people were baffled as to why Bill Russell's official X account was tweeting nearly two years after his death.

Check out some of the best reactions below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

Are you confused like everyone else? Don't feel bad. The tweet went mega-viral Sunday night, and pretty much nobody knew what was going on.

Turns out that there's a pretty heartwarming explanation. His wife clarified late Sunday night that she was the one on the account and that big things were coming to keep her husband's legacy alive.

This situation is a great example of never knowing what you're going to find online. One minute, you're getting ready for the Celtics/Mavericks game. The next, Bill Russell's account has come alive to tweet about the Celtics. What a wild ride for fans Sunday night. Hopefully, his wife has some big things coming for the 11-time NBA champion.
