FSU And Clemson To The Big 12? Early Conversations Reportedly Might Be Happening

Will Clemson and Florida State find a new home in the Big 12?

The Tigers and Seminoles are both desperate to find a way to get out of the ACC in order to boost how much money they might be able to earn. Right now, the ACC simply doesn't have the TV money to keep up with the Big Ten and SEC.

That's led both to try to find new conferences. Ideally, they'd end up in the SEC or Big Ten. So far, neither seems interested in adding the two programs.

What if there's a third option? The Big 12.

Will the Big 12 add Florida State and Clemson?

The Big 12 has been on a warpath to expand in order to secure its survival, and that included adding Arizona, Colorado, Arizona State and Utah this summer. BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston joined the conference last year. Now, it sounds like some very early talks might be happening between the Seminoles, Tigers and Big 12 officials.

"I think there is at least early conversations between the Big 12 and [Clemson and Florida State] about the possibility. I don't know it's anything serious yet because they do have to get out of the ACC. Whether that's through a settlement or a court ruling. So, we could be months if not years away from something, but that does seem to be one of the possibilities is the Big 12," Ross Dellenger reported, in part, when speaking with John Kurtz.

It's very important to stress that these seem to be very early talks as Dellenger pointed out. We're still easily a long way out from having a final outcome for whatever FSU and Clemson decide to do.

The first step is winning whatever legal battles might play out in order to get out of the ACC. They're both fighting like dogs to get it done, but as we all know, the court systems rarely move quickly.

However, where there's smoke, there's fire. Remember, many people claimed there was zero shot the PAC-12 would collapse. OutKick was one of the few outlets who actually pointed out that not only could the PAC-12 collapse, it was more likely than not it would. There's now a lot of chatter about where FSU and Clemson might go if they leave the ACC, and with the SEC and Big Ten not seeming to be interested, the only option left would be the Big 12.

Will it happen? We'll see. Hit me with your predictions at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
