Biden Motorcade Forced Oregon Ducks To Be Late To Game With UCLA
Joe Biden can take the blame for a lot of things: the economy, the border crisis, chaos overseas, making you late for your basketball game…
No, really. The Oregon Ducks were delayed arriving for their game against UCLA because they got stuck behind a presidential motorcade.
The Oregon men's basketball team was staying at the same Beverly Hills hotel as Biden, who is in Los Angeles for a fundraiser. When they boarded the bus at the hotel, less than a mile from Pauley Pavilion, they found out they'd have to sit and wait for an hour behind the motorcade.
"So this is a first… we are less than an hour from tip and (Oregon) is not here at Pauley Pavilion," ESPN announcer Roxy Bernstein posted on X. "They are stuck at their hotel and not moving because of Presidential motorcade."
Finally, the Ducks got a police escort to the arena — arriving just 30 minutes before the scheduled tip-off. The game was delayed an additional half hour to allow time for the team to get dressed and ready.
Plus, they had to wait for the fans, many of whom also got stuck in Biden traffic.
Unfortunately for Oregon, their troubles didn't stop there.
UCLA went out to an early, commanding 18-point lead. But the Ducks managed to battle back — even securing a 1-point lead at halftime. Like the president, though, they lost steam, and Oregon took a 71-63 loss to the surging Bruins.
Now 15-7, the Ducks find themselves at No. 3 in the Pac-12 standings. As we hit the home stretch, the program will try to avoid missing the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season.
And they won't be able to blame the Joe Biden motorcade for that.
