Austin Peay's Basketball Coach Looks Ready To Invade Iraq In Camo Pants At Conference Tourney

Austin Peay basketball coach Corey Gipson certainly had an interesting outfit choice Tuesday night.

The Governors beat North Florida 101-98 in overtime in the quarterfinals of the ASUN conference tourney, and it was an awesome reminder that March is officially here. Buckle up for chaos. However, it wasn't the final score that some found most interesting.

It was Gipson looking like he'd walked off the firing line in Army basic training and went straight to coach his squad against the Ospreys.

Austin Peay basketball coach Corey Gipson rocked combat fatigues.

Generally speaking, coaches wear suits or dressier pants with a polo. That's what you're going to see on the sidelines for a college basketball game 99% of the time. Anything else is pretty rare, other than a holiday tournament in a very warm area.

Gipson decided to break the mold Tuesday night. He rocked camo combat fatigues that are pretty much identical to what you could have seen guys wearing during the GWOT in Iraq.

Was this guy coaching basketball or getting ready to do a hit on a high-value target? Get a load of these bad boys in the photo below, and let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

I will admit that I don't know anything about Corey Gipson. Not a single thing. Didn't even know who the coach at Austin Peay was until about five minutes before writing this article, but I'm all in on him at this point.

Any coach who shows up to a D1 game looking like he's ready to pull Saddam Hussein out of a spiderhole circa 2003 is okay in my book.

It's such a bold move that you have to respect it. Could you ever imagine Coach K - a man who went to West Point - rocking combat fatigues during a game? Of course not. Gipson apparently didn't hesitate.

I'm not hating. I respect the hell out of it. I'm definitely not confident in the way I dress to ever even consider wearing combat fatigues to a sporting event.

Next up for Austin Peay is North Alabama Thursday night. Gipson should go all the way and wear a combat jacket as well. Why not? Embrace the carnage. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
