Anthony Edwards' Monster Dunk Up For Best of the Year
Anthony Edwards reminded us why he's in the running for the face of the NBA. Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard, sped down the lane with his team down one, elevated and executed a hammering dunk on John Collins of the Utah Jazz.
Have Mercy!
It was a dunk so devastating, Edwards might've injured his own hand, though he appeared alright afterward.
"Emphatic" isn't strong enough a word to define what Edwards pulled off on Collins.
The Ant-Man went airborne, trucking the Jazz guard mid-air. Anthony Edwards' slam is already being crowned as Dunk of the Year. And when Edwards watched his dunk after the game, even he was impressed by his insane act of athleticism.
Throw it down, Ant.
WATCH:
Edwards put the T-Wolves ahead of it, capping off an incredible Minnesota comeback to won, 114-104.
The two-time All-Star's performance kept the Timberwolves within prime postseason seeding in the highly competitive Western Conference.
A fan asked Edwards for his jersey. He responded, saying he planned on giving it to Collins as a souvenir.
Already missing Karl Anthony-Towns, Rudy Gobert (the super-spreader) and a recently injured Naz Reid, Edwards had to be the star on Monday night.
He finished with 32 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and a poster moment.
Minnesota's Locked In
Minnesota urgently expects to finish the season strong.
With 14 games remaining, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch has the second-seeded Timberwolves (47-21) half a game behind first place in the West (OKC, 47-20).
Hot on Minnesota's trail are the Denver Nuggets in third place, sharing a 47-21 record with Minnesota.
Should Anthony Edwards land near the Finals or even win the Larry O'Brien this year, he could head into the 2024-25 season as the prime candidate for the NBA's "Next Man Up."
Scoot over, LeBron.
