Angels' Miguel Sano Burns Self With Heating Pad During Injury Rehab

Leave it to the Los Angeles Angels to be involved with one of the more humiliating injuries in recent memory.

Angels manager Ron Washington announced on Sunday that infielder Miguel Sano will miss an extended period of time in his injury rehab after a heating pad seared the player's left knee. Details on Sano's new injury revealed that he burned himself by leaving the heating pad on too long. Sano had been nursing left knee inflammation since April 26. No official timeline for his return has been announced.

The 31-year-old appeared in 21 games for the Angels this season, tallying a batting average of .262 (71 at-bats), adding five RBIs and one home run.

The Los Angeles Angels' first season without Shohei Ohtani continues to swirl down the toilet. The Angels sit at 20-33, buried deep in the AL West, with injuries plaguing their lineup.

Earlier this season, the Angels lost star slugger Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon, though the latter has been mostly absent since he signed with the team in 2020.
