Andrew Wiggins Disappears From Golden State Warriors, Again, Due To 'Personal Matters'

Golden State Warriors swingman Andrew Wiggins is away from the team indefinitely for "personal reasons," head coach Steve Kerr confirmed on Wednesday.

During a radio appearance on Wednesday, Kerr shed some light on Wiggins' head-scratching absence.

"Wiggs is dealing with a personal matter," Kerr shared, relayed by Bleacher Report. "... We do expect him to be back, but we just don't exactly know when."

Kerr did not give a concrete return timeline for Wiggins; the coach ruled Wiggins out for Thursday night's game against the New York Knicks, tallying Wiggins' second-straight game missed. The 6-foot-7 forward missed Tuesday's game versus the Washington Wizards. Guard Moses Moody is expected to fill in for Wiggins for the foreseeable future.

Wiggins is averaging a career-low 12.7 points per game this season.

After the win over the Wizards, Kerr said the following, when asked about Wiggins: "We don't know. We'll obviously respect Andrew's wishes for this to remain private for private and personal reasons. Then we'll just go from there."

Wiggins' absence stirs further concern about his status with the Warriors and his playing career, in general. Last season, for 48 days and 22 games, Wiggins stepped away from the Warriors, citing a "personal" matter. At one point, rumors around Wiggins suggested the former No. 1 overall pick had been raising someone else's child, leading to his abrupt departure from the team. The narrative was dismissed by Wiggins' girlfriend. Turns out Wiggins' father dealt with health issues at the time.

Golden State currently sits ninth in the Western Conference standings at 30-27.
