Pathetic Columnist Loses It Over Alexi Lalas Attending RNC, Suggests Soccer Analyst Should Lose His Job
Fox Sports soccer analyst Alexi Lalas attended the Republican National Convention earlier this week, which sent a columnist so far over the edge that he pinned a story suggesting that Lalas should lose his job.
Lalas, a former U.S. men's national player, has become a lead voice in the American soccer scene over the years and isn't one to shy away from expressing his opinion. Like anyone in the media with a large following, Lalas is beloved by some and disliked by others.
The word ‘dislike’ may not do justice to the way SF Gate columnist Drew Magary feels about Lalas.
After Lalas shared a photo of himself on the stage at the RNC in Milwaukee, Magary got to working on his column with the straight-to-the-point title ‘Why Alexi Lalas Sucks.’
Lalas is a proud conservative, which already makes him an enemy among the vast majority of media counterparts. You add that to the fact that he is a conservative in the soccer world, and he may as well write ‘I’m Different' across his forehead in big bold letters.
Magary cannot comprehend that Lalas has different political views than he does.
"Lalas’ current aesthetic sets off ‘Trumpdars’ from thousands of miles away, and his public support for the likes of Ron DeSantis — Ron f—king DeSantis — proves those alarms correct," Magary wrote. "Alexi Lalas is a Fox News prototype that has been cruelly exported to the soccer world: handsome and yet off-putting, authoritative and yet servile. The perfect stand-in for the hollow-faced ghouls who control the money flow."
It feels appropriate to remind everyone that Lalas is paid to write about soccer, that's it, but since he doesn't fill his social media feed by bashing Donald Trump and ‘the right’, he's evil, according to the big brain of Magary.
He made sure to call for Lalas to lose his job, which has become a prerequisite for anyone liberal media member when discussing anyone who may have conservative values.
"The USMNT realized that it couldn’t succeed any longer with Gregg Berhalter as the face of its operation," Magary continued. I’d like to think that Fox will come to the same epiphany with Lalas, who has now done more to harm soccer here than help it."
Calling for anyone to lose their job is unhinged behavior. Calling for someone to lose their job because they attended an event with the word ‘Republican’ attached to it is deranged, sad, and pathetic.
