Aaron Rodgers Wants To Play Four More Seasons In The NFL. Could He?

Aaron Rodgers is already the oldest quarterback in the NFL, but if he has his way, he's still nowhere close to retirement.

Rodgers, after missing the 2023 season thanks to an achilles injury, announced in December that he wanted to play two more seasons with the New York Jets.

But in a new podcast, Rodgers revealed he thinks he may have even more time to play at the highest level. Speaking on the Look Into It Podcast with Eddie Bravo, he discussed his future plans and where he is in the rehab process.

"I got back on the practice field late in the season and couldn't get to a top speed sprinting, but really been in a good place rehab-wise, from the start, and feeling really good," Rodgers said. "I'm hopeful I can play two or three or four more years, but you need to have some good fortune in there too."

How Realistic Is It For Rodgers To Continue For Four More Seasons?

At face value, it seems unrealistic for Rodgers to play through the 2027 season. Yet if he did make it that far, he'd retire at a younger age than Tom Brady. And when you put it that way, it seems a lot more possible, considering Brady won a Super Bowl at 43.

And though Rodgers' showed some signs of decline in his last full season in 2022, he still threw for 26 touchdowns against 12 interceptions with nearly 3,700 passing yards in just 12 games.

We won't know how well he's recovered from the achilles injury until the NFL starts up again later this year, but considering how close he was to returning in 2023, all signs point to him being a full go for preseason and regular season games. Even he admits he'll need some "good fortune" to make it that far into his career, but with Rodgers' talent and desire to compete, it doesn't seem as impossible as it sounds.
