Aaron Donald Admits There's One Team He Hated Playing Against
Recently retired defensive tackle Aaron Donald seemed damn-near unstoppable during his time in the NFL. However, the future Hall of Famer still had at least one team that frustrated him to the point that he hated playing against them: the Philadelphia Eagles.
Donald revealed this in an appearance on the podcast Green Light with Chris Long, who, of course, is a former NFLer himself who won a Super Bowl in Philly.
"I guess I'm wondering, like, was there one team that always had a good plan?" Long asked.
"Philly," Donald said. "I hated playing against Philly."
However, don't think for a second that Donald was coming down with a case of the Philly flu. He just happened to run into a team that was a handful. Even for him.
"(Jason) Kelce's little fast ass always ran full-(speed), Donald said. He would snap the ball and run right over. I'd be like, 'Bro, you got some good guards. Let them work. You don't have to help them every time.' He told me, 'I'm not letting you ruin the game.'"
Donald said that Jason Kelce — who also announced his retirement earlier this offseason, meaning those two could bump into each other in Canton — being quick to cover him meant that he was double-teamed practically the entire game.
"Every time I played the Eagles, I never really got any one-on-ones. I got one or two in the game and that would be it. If you don't win your one-on-one, you're done. You'll get double-teamed for the rest of the game."
Well, Donald might still be seeing midnight green in his sleep for years to come, but the Eagles are one of the few teams that gave Donald even an ounce of trouble.
In 154 games played, Donald registered 111 sacks, and 543 combined tackles including 176 tackles for losses.
